52 Books in 52 Weeks

I am taking part in the 52 Books in 52 Weeks challenge.

This week's book was Skinny Bitch by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin

Warning: There is a fair amount of cursing in this book and they discuss animal slaughter quite graphically.

An excerpt from the back reads: If you can't take one more day of self-loathing, you're ready to hear the truth: You cannot keep shoveling the same crap in your mouth everyday and expect to lose weight.

If you don't mind a bit of potty mouth, most of this book is hilarious in the sense that people really do think they can do a no-work diet and lose weight. The real world doesn't work like that. As the book tells you, you need to stop eating crap and get off your arse if you want to lose weight.

Now, the authors are vegan and lay it on thickly that you can never eat animal products and lose weight. They also go in to large amounts of graphic detail about slaughter houses. However, if you can make it through that, the rest of the information in the book is quite interesting.

For the organic/vegan lovers, they off a great chapter on their suggestions on best foods to buy. Unfortunately for me, even if I was organic or a vegan, most of the brands mentioned aren't even available in Canada.

All in all a good book. I swear like a trucker so that didn't bother me and I happily eat meat while pretending that everything I eat lived in happy open pastures.
